The Gill St. Bernard’s basketball standout – a three-time All-State guard who holds the school’s scoring record of 2,146 points, all while playing for his father, Mergin Sina, the famed coach who put the Knights on the national map – lands a coveted coaching job at Bernards High in Bernardsville. |
When the pandemic hit, master glass artist James Stone was forced to close his Stone & Glass gallery in Escondido, CA. The 71-day pause essentially crushed sales of his custom designs and shuttered his studio’s glassblowing classes. Like many small business owners across the country, he feared his livelihood would perish. By changing his business model, his sales skyrocketed.

New York Times best-selling author and illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka virtually visited Gill St. Bernard’s to give drawing demonstrations and talk about his creative process. With more than 40 titles to his name, Mr. Krosoczka authored and illustrated the popular Lunch Lady graphic novel series; picture books, such as It's Tough to Lose Your Balloon; and his graphic memoir, Hey, Kiddo, a National Book Award Finalist. At the Lower School visit, Mr. Krosoczka doodled in his sketch book to show students how to change a character's emotion by changing its eyes, and at the Middle School talk, he drew sock puppets to teach how to use facial expressions and word bubbles to communicate.

Max Siegel's achievements are many: the first African American to graduate Notre Dame Law School with honors, a nationally renowned sports and entertainment executive, and owner of Revolution Racing, a NASCAR race team. During his diverse career, Mr. Siegel managed musical artists such as Usher, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears, and sports legends including Hall of Famers Reggie White and Tony Gwynn. In his virtual visit to Gill St. Bernard’s in honor of Black History Month, the CEO of USA Track & Field shared inspirational thoughts on leadership and answered questions about everything from transgender athletes to the culture of NASCAR to the prospects of the summer Olympics.
