About
A professional writer for more than 30 years, Alice Roche Cody crafted a weekly education column and reported for The Record (Hackensack, NJ), served as a promotions specialist for Rutgers, taught college journalism classes and volunteered as a media strategist for a local political committee. Alice's portfolio includes features, profiles, news stories, cover stories, grants, speeches, annual reports, donor wall vignettes, newsletters, essays, invites, email blasts, biographies, brochures, video scripts and press releases. Her client list includes prep schools, sports agencies, universities, start-ups, soup kitchens, non-profits and foundations.
What Alice likes most about being a writer is telling stories – breathing life to her subjects on the page. She particularly enjoys helping high school students discover and develop their own stories for college essays.
A member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, Alice is writing a middle-grade novel about a 12-and-under baseball travel team. She’s a frequent contributor to NJ.com, The Black River Journal and The Rumpus. Her personal narrative, “A Sacred Gift,” was one of 60 essays selected from more than 100,000 submissions for inclusion in the book, This I Believe: On Motherhood (Wiley & Sons).
